Villian is TAG reg.
I Basicaly flop a monster. Try to play it like a tournament where I expect to get it in on the flop and don't have a plan for the turn. What should my standard line be here and what is the plan for each street?

My best attempt is to bet call flop, check call turn and evaluate the river. I feel like that is really passive but when he raises the flop i'm not getting him to fold very often.

Thanks for the feedback

You overplayed your hand.

I don't see any reason to 3bet the flop with only a draw. We're never getting called by worse and may even be dead against a few hand combos. Turn again, I just call instead of shipping, our equity has been slashed and we have no fold equity.

We're never dead on the flop with an OESFD, even against quads we have some equity haha Smile

I agree with Harvie though that I don't like 3betting here. Obviously we would like to get our money in but against a 4bet flop range we're never going to be doing to well. I think the check/raise on the turn is a bigger mistake than 3betting on the flop, the 8h is a really poor card for our equity and I'd just try to bink the river here personally.

I hate this line TBH. I think we are just giving money away. Correct we are not dead but lets not just feed this guy stacks.

Just call his raise and call down / raise rivers when we have the nuts only. If we brick just fold.

Looks a bit tilty to me. Up to the villain's frlop 3bet I see as ok and we can call that, but that turn is a brick and we've already been 3bet so villain is going nowhere soon. When we push we could easily be looking for miracles on that board.

I think you answered your own question and I'd play it a little more passively as suggested by others, especially OOP versus aggression, we have Q high after all. Smile

Thanks for the responses. Yer, as soon as I played the hand I knew i'd botched it. Think it goes back to playing with shorter tournament stacks. Needed a plan beyond just 'get it in' lol.

Plan for the future, B/C flop, X/C Turn and raise if we bink.

I think flop was just a call, no reason to 3bet there, he is not going to fold anything, turn i think is the bigger mistake of the two, like what do you thought he was going to fold? (maybe this is useless, because i think besides like plan for the future X/C turn) u should be asking what hands would he be folding when he raises flop and calls my 3bet? probably none? I think also u can just x/fold turn depending on his size. Also with that flop with a repeated card, u can hit some cards that can improve your oponent holding. I think your hand is great when its a not paired board, not this board. Maybe im wrong.

Hand is probably not as monsterish as you think. We basically just have 2 dominated draws when the board is paired. Not a hand we want to be playing big pot with. It's important to remember that number of outs don't necessarily define the strength of a draw. Sometimes a gutshot is better if it is to the nuts.

Anyway, clearly fine to cbet, but probably good to just bet/call, and then make some decisions after checking the turn based on our pot-odds. And it's no good counting implied odds on the turn when the board is paired. So ideally we'd have slightly more than a pot-odds call to counteract any reverse implieds.
