NL4 AJ

Posted 8 years agoEdited 8 years ago

I went to NL4 after a couple of beats yesterday and this situation came up.
It's just the preflop action and I'm wondering about my plan here.
Alpagon is a loose, 'see any flop' fun player. Vandangoz seemed pretty tight as you can see.
There's the issue of the fun player's stack size to my immediate left.
I feel I can't really raise, a bit like my hands are tied.

MHE_BCE(SB) $4.64 - VP:21 PFR:17 AF:5.0 W:22|50 STL:50| 3B:3|75 CB:44|100 N:0.53 Hands:78
Me(BB) $4
motor68(UTG) $1.91 - VP:0 PFR:0 AF: W: STL: 3B:0| CB: N:-0.04 Hands:1
alpagon(MP) $0.76 - VP:68 PFR:3 AF:2.5 W:27|46 STL:0|9 3B:5|33 CB:100|53 N:-5.18 Hands:80
vandangoz(CO) $3.34 - VP:14 PFR:10 AF:0.7 W:44|50 STL:0|88 3B:7| CB:25|100 N:0.33 Hands:80
Samhainnn(BTN) $6.87 - VP:20 PFR:12 AF:0.7 W:17|100 STL:33|50 3B:0|0 CB:67|0 N:2.49 Hands:25

Pre Flop: Me(BB) with [Jh,Ah]
alpagon(MP) calls 0.04,
motor68(UTG) checks,
vandangoz(CO) raises 0.22,
Samhainnn(BTN) folds,
MHE_BCE(SB) folds,
Me(BB) calls?

Not sure what's going on with the HH but UTG should be acting before MP...

It shouldn't be too relevant though. I'd call. Let the weaker players in. I definitely don't expect a limp/reraise out of alpagon given his stats and have no reason to expect one from UTG either. 3betting against a tight CO when the raise size is already inflated to over 5bb (meaning your 3bet will be huge) likely won't be +EV unless he's very bad in different areas.

Yeah just switch those two around, not sure what happened. Thanks for your input, just wanted to clear it up a bit.
With the stack sizes and such making this situation a bit unique.

Hi crocker, vs 14/10 is a easy fold AJs preflop, AJ is the weakest of our range, 2do if you call is very probable that MP/UTG(i dont know jaja) make 3bet allin, in fact you not have position (this further worsens things), i prefer fold preflop this situation

I think this is still a call, you have AJs in the BB and the fish is probably going to call. I think the CO is still Iso-ing with worse hands than ours and we are getting a very good price to call assuming the fish is going to call behind. It does get a bit weird if the fish shoves and the CO re- isolates but I guess we can make up for that the times he doesn't shove if that makes any sense.

I think this is a bit too tight, though as with a lot of preflop spots if making the fold is a mistake it will likely be a small mistake. If you plug AJs into a program like Pokerstove you'll see it has decent equity even against a range like 3% (that I have to believe this player is looser than that). Given there are 2 weaker players in the pot as well it should definitely be profitable.

Basically what @Komododragonjesus said. Also, the fact that villain is 14/10 means very little given the small sample size.
