5NL - A5 (ISO OOP)

Anon. In short I lost this one and he flipped over A7. Maybe the line should've been check flop, bet turn and river or just try for 2 streets of value at the most?

Yeah I think you should just check the river. The guy seems quite passive so I don't expect a bet that often but if he does I'm probably happy folding anyway, I don't expect him to be bluffing that often

Ye, two streets for me, flop and turn, check river and expect a lot of checks behind from Ax small and bets from better. Lots of Ax limp/call utg at these limits and utg limps are also often a tighter range.
If I bet my Ax only beats something like an A4 one pair hand that might call, which is too thin a bet for my taste.

in this situation you could ask yourself on the river what hands would call 3streets of value that you beat. You will quite fast come to exactly 1 hand. A4

9x can (should) not call 3 streets. 3x obviously not.

so your bet folds out worse hands that you beat anyway but get called by hands that beat you.

bet flop, bet turn, check river

Note the fact that he called with A7 3 streets and keep value betting with you AJ+ relentlessly.

Agree with the above, this is never a hand I'm pushing for three streets of value. I'm checking this flop extremely often and betting turn if it goes check check, and likely betting river again. Betting flop will get too many folds from hands in rough shape against us and checking can encourage some lighter calldowns on later streets.
