50nl KQ 4Bet Pre

Posted 8 years ago

Yo

Was making a video (coming soon) and ran into this fun spot. Basically

BenOmaha (UTG) LAG player - not sure if good or bad yet
BTN - LAG FISH
SB - Good reg and VIP member - Not sure if he plays 50nl or was shot taking.
BB - Me - Aggro, dynamics vs VIP players etc

So UTG open, Fish on btn calls, SB squeezes.

I have KQ - obvious blockaments

So pre I 4bet to 15 from the 6.50 squeeze then get jammed on.

Do we

a) 4bet pre here?
b) call it off?
c) fold at both points

I quite like your 4bet here with the blockers, don't mind getting this pot HU with the fish on the BTN either, but when the SB shoves, I think it's a fold.

Best case we're up against TT-JJ which puts us at 44%. Do they 3bet 88-99 here, I would be calling or call and back raise shove if I expect you're aggro in the BB. Worse case is QQ+/AK which crushes us.

I think fold pre.
I can't see a sensible reg squeezing UTG opener from SB just to iso the fish on BU. In fact I think it's even less likely SB does iso light simply because the fish is on the BU and an unlikely folder and it's v UTG, again an unlikely fold given your read so far.

We seem to be running out of FE here.

Once you do 4bet and get shipped on you're deader than the lead player in a George Romero movie nearly always imo. I don't think dynamics are going to help you here unless you threaten the banhammer for the forums Cheeky

If you called and SB showed JJ I'd be pleasantly surprised.

I'd have folded to the squeeze preflop simply because it is from SB and versus LAG UTG, but that's probably why I play nl10.

That was fun, al get ma coat now. Giggle

Is the 13bb 3b standard sizing in this game?

I love the 4b, but I feel our sizing is pretty big. I also believe we should be folding to the 5b unless we have great reads on the player.

But if for example the 3b was to more around 10/11bb and we could cold 4b to around 22-24bb I would love this spot alot more.
Risking 30bb is alot in this spot I think, and if there is ever a scenario where the villian flats us pre instead of just folding we will win this the majority of the time post flop.
I never really see a time where the villian is going to call OOP to a 30bb 4b, while if its a 22-24bb 4b do you think they could ever peel us?

@f1zz1cs 13bb sq here is smallish as there are 2 ccallers. But yeah, 13bb is +/- standard sq size OOP, I make it 13.5bb v 1 ccaller.

a) and c) are both fine as long as you don't b). And you can 4bet slightly smaller as well imo, 13bb->26bb is what I do.

Think if I made it 17-18bb I would be calling it off, otherwise I'm getting out of my depth now guys. Smile

I'd much prefer the 4 bet pre if the open was from MP or the CO.

Even though SB might squeeze an expanded value range to play with the fish, I doubt he's going to be thrilled at doing it against a LAG player opening UTG. His range won't be that wide.

As played it has to be a fold once you get shoved on, surely.

Re the 4 bet size, I do like it. It's not going to be a great spot if we encourage a call pre, which more and more players are doing these days. I'd much rather know where I stood right away.
