5NL - AJ

Posted 8 years ago

Anon. Spot here against a very short stack. We flop a gut shot and 1 over. Normally this would be a good cbet spot, but I didn't because of his stack size. I didn't want to cbet and get jammed on. l think if he did jam here, the I think pot would be about $1.40 and we'd be getting 2.2:1, so I think we'd have to fold since the lightest these players jam would be TP/weak kicker. Maybe I'm wrong...

Anyway, should we c/c in this spot and try to improve on the turn or should we cbet flop?

Flop: Definitely put out a Cbet in this spot. we have QQs,KKs,KQ, and AAs in our range also a gutshot which blocks top pair top kicker.

Standard CB spot with our gutshot and the fact we hit this range much harder than villain does.

I also agree, this board is relatively dry it hits our perceived range well and we even have some equity - easy cbet.

So if we cbet against this stack size and he jams flop, we call it off?

No of course not. As when we do bet flop, we will have stronger hands to call then AJ to call off with.

I cbet as well. As for calling it off, depends on your sizing but it's very likely a fold to a shove. Though, it's a spot where villain can have some stuff like JTs T9s and probably some random bluffs as well since he's a rec player so you'll typically have more equity than you would assuming you're drawing to 7 outs with the gutshot and overcard.
