NL10z T9s

Pre is bottom of my Iso range from the SB. BB then 3bets me to a wierd amount so feel priced in to call.

On the flop I'm not loving life maybe but with a pair and lots of backdoors I make a looseish peel.

Turn sucks for me so I'm in give up mode. Then he goes and checks back. So now I'm thinking he doesn't have many 1 spade hands and he wants to pot control AQ or AK or maybe even red AA.

So this then makes the river interesting as I'm thinking aT or 9 or J might give me the best hand and a spade might allow me to bluff.

On the spade river I could try and rep the flush, with a small bet. I don't need loads of folds so what do we think? Too ambitious and actually he could be checking back loads of nutted hands on the turn.

Iso looks ok. Theoretically the 3 bet call could be correct but I still fold this hand type OOP even for a cheap price.

As played flop is standard

River could be a possible bluff spot, but we still have a profitable check with the 9. Villain looks a bit on the passive side and it's easy for him to call Qx Kx now only one street of money has gone in. JJ TT is all he really folding if he even has those hands. On balance I would just check and hope he checks behind.

I think we have some showdown value here and checking the river is perfectly fine. Bluffing might not be a bad idea but I'd need some info to make that play.

Up to the river looks good.

On the river I think both checking and turning your hand into a bluff have merit but I lean towards checking because villain made a really small 3bet pre which I think will often indicate a weaker player. When that's the case I find it harder to predict what they'll be doing with various hands in their range and while I think turning 9x into a bluff could be good, I'm much less certain that it will be good and that uncertainty leans me towards a check which should still be +EV.

Probably not a good reason to bluff this combo on the river. We still beat some of villain's range. So while bluffing could easily end up being +EV it's a much bigger stretch for it to end up being MaxEV since it's extremely unlikely that checking doesn't not have a positive EV in this river scenario.

So it's probably just incorrect range construction to turn this hand into a river bluff, although there is a smallish chance that bluffing could have the maxEV exploitatively.
