5NL - QJ (vs. donk shove)

Posted 8 years ago

Anon. These players like to donk small with less than TP and donk pot/near pot with TP/WK. Tough spot here. We ISO and get called by the BB who then donk shoves flop. Hero on flop?

Bleh, I'd just go ahead and fold, we block some draw combos JT/KJ and they can be doing this with every Ax combo. If we had any ace I'd be calling but feel too often we're going to be up against top pair.

I'd fold.

It's not really a big shove but he's doing it into 3 players so I'd expect to see an Ax hand here most of the time. Like @Harvie mentioned, you block some draws he could possibly do this with and you also block worse pairs that he could shove with (ie: all worse queens). Plus there's another player left to act which means you should be continuing tighter.

If this was a heads up pot or you were last to act I'd say it's probably close. Getting 2:1 on a call you only need 33% to break even and if you throw some gutshots and the odd Qx or 4x into this leading range QJo does ok.

Yes, this is a fold. Pot is small and there is no need to call and put yourself in a weird situation if you don't have some reads on BB. He will have Ax most of the time. Be patient and you will get the money in much better against these players.

Folding seems fine as our hand will just never play well on any future street. Villain can have an ace or better and i don't think we get exploited by making this fold.

Id say fold , you block TJ KJ and fish can limp all the Ax id expect you to have somewhere in the region of 20%-25% equity vs his range here. No flush draws so his range has a very narrow bluff range of only 30-40 combos there's hundreds of combos that beat you here.
