A9s ISO v Rec

Posted 8 years ago

I isolated shorty fish who is limp calling all, pair and nfd and backdoor on the flop, easy c bet, maybe too big considering his stack size, turn a blank, should I take the free card or fire again, I wanted to fire again, maybe it could be best to shove turn idk

I think vs a shortie we may have to take a free card as if we bet and he shoves then we have to call with 28% equity vs higher pair.

We have 9s so limits a few draws he can show up with, though I guess they are entirely possible if he did shove. However if river spades hits then we can get all his money vs those if we check back anyway.

My default would be a check on the turn as I don't expect this player to fold Jx so our fold equity is low. Most of their draws may be connected with a pair too

Pre: Mandatory iso vs a limper here.

Flop: I like betting here to make sure we can stack villain if he continues and we improve immediately so nice bet.

Turn: I would expect we don't have a massive amount of fold equity here and our hand is almost certainly behind right now so I would be checking back here and realising our equity.

Pre is standard.

Flop c bet with showdown value and the flush draw is perfect.

On the turn against a shortstack I'm happy to check this behind with probably not a lot of fold equity. If we bet and he jams we're likely getting around a break even call, but it's tough to get value with only a pair of 9s.
