Raise back the flop. If not, Bet the turn. if not, Raise the river Smile
Posted 8 years ago
I'd be raising flop, why didn't you raise the river, you have the nuts?

Thanks for the answers.

Here is my thought process:

I did not raised the flop because the SPR is 7, and i don´t think it is profitable to stack off with SPR=7 with a one pair hand on this board against a Reg. I like to be at the Top of my range during a hand as long as possible, therefore i called. I think he only stacks off with AA,KK, or a set here and sometimes calling a Raise with a FD. He did NOT 4-bet preflop and i have 2 Aces in my hand, therefore the probability of him having AA or KK is low. So if he decides to get it in on the flop i will be up against a set too often imo. I checked back the turn to under-represent my hand so he can try and bluff the river and on the other hand i utilize pot control cause i dont see too many hands i beat calling me on the turn. On the river i expect him to check lower flushes on a paired board. So after he bet, i thought his betting range was polarized. He either is bluffing or he has a boat which he played in a tricky way. So if i raise my hand is face up and he folds all his bluffs and gets it in with a (very rare) King-high Flush or a boat so i just called. According to Power Equilab/Flopzilla i couldn´t find a mistake in my play with regard to my thought process. So if i made mistakes, then my thought process must be wrong.

Therefore:

I am very interested in your thought process guys. Thank you!

P2 50.49% 50.49% AsAc
MP3 49.51% 49.51% QQ, 66, 22, AQs, KcJc, KcTc, JcTc, Tc9c, 9c8c, 8c7c, AQo

This is our EQ vs his range. Its fine to call the flop too when we have Ac since it will lower his flushdraw combos. If he raises AQ on the flop I think he goes all in with it too. I think we can ad the random KQ random JJwith clubs and some weirdish hands too. This just shows how we do vs the tightest of ranges. Take away AQ and all random hands and I agree with your line until the river.

I dont think he checks flush or boat on the turn very often so it looks like we have the best hand and can go for value. You have a big range advantage after we've called the flop c/r and he checks the turn so you would like to bet most of your range. Again if you just give him the tighest of ranges with only sets and flushes checking is better by far.

River i would rise to get a call from something like KcQx KcKx KcJc 8c7c JcJs....

Its very wierd for him to bet so small if he had a boat since he would like to make max value vs all our flushes. His overall line and sizes in this hand make me confident that he doesnt have a boat and we can go for value with our nutflush.

Seems like a lot of thinking by hero after 50 hands, which is fair enough but I'm not that good yet so I raise the river with no thought of folding; no full house here after they check turn, weak bet river and that's about is all I need from villain here.
I just think it's a case of our hero projecting their thought process into villain's head, whereas in actual fact our hero is miles ahead in that department and likely nothing like that is going on at all and villain only sees the board/their hand/ your check on the turn; maybe even forgot he got 3bet preflop by now.

Disclaimer: I have been known to be wrong, oh so wrong, on occasion! Cheeky

Being as villain looks reggish I'm happy to just call the flop when we can't expect him to call OOP with too many combos that give him a flush draw. Most regs at these stakes won't be raising AQ either.

Once he checks to us on the turn I would make a value bet; nothing too big.

River should obv be a shove with the nuts. Even if we don't expect to get called very often, calling is just a waste of potential value.
