NL10z 55

Pre standard. Flop check is hard to justify probably but in my head I thought bottom set was OK to check hoping to draw a bet, defend my checking range and limit coolers vs 66, 88, . When it checks back I start looking for value, can't really see what from but hope he has 99-JJ and didn't float flop?

Bet and call and river is a pretty much blank. Can't have many 4x surely? 33, 22 I beat and could do this. Surely better sets and overpairs would have bet flop or raised turn. River raises are always the nuts but what nuts? 44 maybe?

I actually like the check here, well done. Unless villain is super loose pre you'll have a hard time making too much money on average by betting. You'll both have all sets on this board but it's a spot where you might be opening 15% UTG and he's calling 5% on the button so they're a much bigger part of his range than yours. The board gets really ugly for 1-pair hands really quickly and if you're checking many of those you should check stuff like this too.

Turn is great.

River kinda sucks. I agree with the vbet since 4x should be such a small part of villain's range. I could see many villain's bluffing here especially after you "show weakness" by checking flop. In terms of bluffcatchers 55 is ok since it'll beat any made hand that's turning itself into a bluff. Also it has ok blockers against 54s that villain might show up with. I'd say the most likely 4x for him to have are 44, A4s, 54s and of course you can't have a blocker against 44.

It's theoretically fine to go for x/r with some frequency. Might not be the best line exploitatively though, I'd mostly look to bet/bet/bet at this limit. Turn and river are reasonable. Bet/fold river is probably good.

My standard here would be to bet all 3 streets. At 10NL I would expect many villains to overplay 7x plus a pair, and it's also a board where lots of players will makes a random bluff raise heads up.

As played the river is nasty. Being as nearly all river raises at these stakes are the nuts I would fold, but it's tougher here because you showed weakness on the flop.

I'm also voting for the bet/bet/bet line given the limit. It's not like check/raising is atrocious or anything especially if you think about other parts of your range, but I just think that betting works much better vs. your garden variety NL10 player.
